A petrol tanker explosion in Majiya Town, Taura Local Government Area, has resulted in at least 90 fatalities and left 50 others injured. Police spokesperson Mr. Shi’isu Adam confirmed that the tragedy occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday when the tanker driver lost control near Khadija University while traveling from Kano to Nguru in Yobe. Adam expressed concern over crowds gathering at accident scenes despite police warnings, which contributed to the high casualty count. A mass burial for the victims is planned for Wednesday at 9 a.m., and those injured are receiving medical treatment at Ringim General Hospital.
