The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, has assured Nigerians that the ruling party will fulfil the promises it made during the 2023 presidential campaign as it seeks to secure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Senator Yari gave the assurance on Sunday after returning to Nigeria from an overseas trip. He was received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, by APC supporters, associates and other well-wishers following his appointment as Director-General of the party’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
Speaking with journalists, Senator Yari said the APC remained committed to delivering on its promises to Nigerians.
“I want to assure Nigerians that whatever promise we made during the campaign, we shall keep. Today we have seen him [Bola Ahmed Tinubu] as President, and by God’s grace he shall be the President come 2027,” he said.

His comments come shortly after he was appointed Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, placing him at the centre of the ruling party’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general election.
Addressing the supporters who gathered to welcome him, Senator Yari expressed appreciation for their support and urged them to continue backing President Tinubu and the APC.
He said the crowd had gathered to pray for him and the success of the President, adding:
“Our party is synonymous with keeping our word. We pray that Almighty Allah will give him (the President) the wisdom to lead this country. We assure Nigerians that we shall fulfil all our campaign promises.”
Yari backs Tinubu for 2027
Senator Yari, who represents Zamfara West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, expressed confidence that President Tinubu would secure another term in office.
He said the reception at the airport demonstrated the confidence of APC supporters in the President and the ruling party.
“By God’s grace he shall be the President come 2027,” Senator Yari said.
Campaign role comes amid opposition criticism
Senator Yari’s appointment has already attracted criticism from opposition figures. Former Kano State Governor and NDC vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, recently urged him to reconsider accepting the position.
Mr Kwankwaso questioned why a former governor from the North-West would lead a campaign for the continuation of the Tinubu administration despite the region’s challenges with insecurity, poverty and displacement.
Senator Yari’s latest comments therefore place the APC’s 2027 campaign on a clear promise of continuity, while the opposition is expected to make the performance of the Tinubu administration a central issue in the coming election.
What it means for Nigerians
For voters, the central issue will be whether the APC can demonstrate that its 2023 promises have translated into measurable improvements in everyday life.
The party’s campaign will have to contend with questions around the economy, cost of living, insecurity, employment and the impact of the government’s reforms. As the 2027 election approaches, Senator Yari’s assurance that the APC will “keep” its promises is likely to face scrutiny against the experiences of Nigerians and the government’s record in office.
