A 54-year-old woman, Tinuke Bernard, was on Thursday arraigned before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly assaulting her neighbour.
Bernard, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing a two-count charge of assault and breach of the peace. She pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the prosecution, led by Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, the incident occurred on April 18 at approximately 9:00 a.m. along Iltoga-Zannu Road in Badagry, Lagos.

Inspector Adeosun alleged that Bernard assaulted her neighbour, Ayomide Afolabi, by pouring hot water on her, resulting in bodily injuries. He further stated that the defendant’s actions caused public disorder, thereby constituting a breach of peace.
The offences, according to the prosecutor, violate Sections 173 and 168 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
Presiding over the case, Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya granted Bernard bail in the sum of ₦200,000, with two sureties in the same amount. The case was adjourned until June 3 for mention.
