BREAKING:
Newcastle United have officially appointed German coach Matthias Jaissle as their new head coach, following the resignation of Eddie Howe.

The Premier League club announced that Jaissle has signed a four-year contract at St. James’ Park after completing a move from Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli. Newcastle reportedly paid £9.5 million in compensation to secure the services of the highly-rated 37-year-old manager.

Jaissle has already joined his new squad and has been working with the players since the weekend. His first match in charge of the Magpies will be a pre-season friendly against Spanish side Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium next Saturday.

Speaking after his appointment, Jaissle expressed his excitement about taking on the role.

“When Newcastle United comes your way, you take notice,” he said.

“The ambition of the club, the vision for the future and the opportunity ahead made this an incredibly compelling place to be. I have followed the club’s journey closely in recent years, and the progress that has been made is clear for everyone to see.”

Jaissle arrives at Newcastle after an impressive spell with Al Ahli, where he guided the Saudi club to domestic success and established himself as one of Europe’s most promising young managers.

His appointment marks the beginning of a new era for Newcastle United, with supporters hopeful that the German tactician can build on the club’s recent progress and lead the Magpies to further success in the Premier League and European competitions.

The club will now turn its attention to preparations for the 2026/27 season, with Jaissle expected to use the remaining pre-season fixtures to implement his tactical philosophy and assess his squad ahead of the new campaign.
