Two prominent aspirants of the All Progressives Congress in Kebbi State, Bala Ibn Na’Allah and Sani M. Kabiru, have withdrawn from the party’s senatorial primary elections scheduled for May 18, 2026.

Na’Allah, who previously represented Kebbi South Senatorial District, announced his withdrawal in a letter dated May 17 and addressed to the APC state chairman in Birnin Kebbi.

Explaining his decision, the former senator said consultations and the political atmosphere within the party influenced his withdrawal.

“After careful consultations and credible information available to me regarding the disposition of the party toward the forthcoming primary election, I have decided to withdraw from the contest,” he stated.

Na’Allah said his decision was taken in the interest of unity and stability within the APC.

“I have dedicated over 14 years to building and strengthening this party. My decision is borne out of respect for the unity, peace, and progress of the APC,” he added.

He also thanked his supporters and constituents, especially those who contributed financially toward his nomination process.

Kebbi central aspirant also steps down

Similarly, Sani M. Kabiru, popularly known as Kabiru Sani Giant, withdrew from the race for the Kebbi Central Senatorial District ticket.

In a separate letter dated May 16, Kabiru said his withdrawal was based on “personal, political, and strategic considerations.”

He expressed gratitude to party stakeholders, campaign coordinators and supporters for their loyalty during his aspiration.

“I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support and solidarity shown to me by party stakeholders, supporters, and members of my campaign team,” he said.

Kabiru reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged continued support for the party’s future electoral success.

“My commitment to the APC remains unwavering, and I will continue to work for the success and stability of our great party,” he added.

The withdrawals are seen as part of growing political realignments and internal manoeuvring within the APC in Kebbi State ahead of the senatorial primaries.

Analysts say the developments could reshape the contest for APC tickets in the state as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
