The Kwara State Teaching Service Commission has received approval for cash backing to implement the 2025 promotion exercise for eligible teaching and non-teaching staff across the state.

The approval was granted by AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Press Secretary of TESCOM, Bola Onile.

According to the statement, the approval is aimed at ensuring workers benefit from their promotions and reflects the administration’s commitment to staff welfare, motivation and career advancement within the public service, particularly in the education sector.

Commending the development, the Executive Chairman of TESCOM, Bello Abubakar, described the decision as another demonstration of the government’s support for teachers and education workers.

“The approval is yet another demonstration of His Excellency’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers and ensuring that deserving officers enjoy the benefits of their promotions as and when due,” Mr Abubakar said.

Promotion arrears

Mr Abubakar noted that the current administration inherited outstanding promotion arrears covering the period from 2015 to 2020.

He stated that Governor AbdulRazaq approved both the conduct of promotion exercises and the financial backing required to implement promotions covering 2015 through 2025.

“When His Excellency came into office, there were backlogs of unapproved promotion arrears from 2015 to 2020. He approved the conduct of the promotion exercises and the cash backing for the promotions from 2015 to 2025, making him the only governor in the history of the state to do so,” he said.

Implementation begins

TESCOM said administrative processes for implementation would begin immediately in line with government procedures to ensure affected workers receive their promotion benefits.

“The commission will immediately commence the necessary administrative processes to ensure the seamless implementation of the approved promotion cash backing in line with established government procedures,” Mr Abubakar added.

The commission also urged teachers and staff members to remain committed to their responsibilities, assuring that diligence, professionalism and excellence would continue to receive recognition under the current administration.

TESCOM reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, transparency and efficiency, expressing confidence that the approval would strengthen staff morale and improve service delivery across public secondary schools in the state.
