For many Nigerian families, December at the cinema has become closely tied to Funke Akindele’s films. Her latest announcement continues that tradition. The Four: No One Fights Alone is set for a global cinema release on 11 December 2026.
Produced by Funke Akindele Network and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, the film follows Esosa and three loyal women whose courage, faith and loyalty are tested as they fight for the future of a young man they love. It is described as an emotionally charged drama about friendship, motherhood, resilience and the strength of ordinary women, set between a rural community and the city, and woven with music, fashion, language and tradition.
Akindele, who wrote, directed and produced the film, has said audiences now expect stories that entertain while reflecting who they are. That expectation has grown alongside her consistent December releases, which have turned her movies into a shared holiday experience for many viewers.
The cast includes Akindele herself alongside Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Antar Laniyan, Wunmi Toriola, singer Waje and Afrobeats artiste Shoday, among others.
As the end of the year approaches, the familiar anticipation is already building. For fans who have made her previous December films part of their holiday routine, The Four arrives as both another big-screen event and a story centred on unity and sacrifice, themes that may resonate with families who gather together at the cinema.
